Beasley Broadcasting Group increased revenue by 1.5% and net income by 15% in the third quarter largely on the strength of increasing billings in key markets such as Philadelphia and Wilmington and last year’s acquisition of local country station 92.5 XTU (WXTU-FM). Naples, Florida-based Beasley (NASDAQ: BBGI), which operates seven Philadelphia-area radio stations out of its Bala Cynwyd studios, saw its stock hit a 10-year low last Friday as the company reportedly laid off several employees across its footprint. On a call with investors, CEO Caroline Beasley said the year-over-year revenue increase to $66.1 million reflects the increased billings at the company’s Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, Charlotte, Fayetteville and Wilmington market clusters, along with revenue contributions from two recent station acquisitions.
