(NYSE: JEQ) (the "Fund"), a closed-end equity fund, announced today that it will pay a distribution of US$0.25903 per share on January 10, 2020 to all stockholders of record as of December 31, 2019 (ex-dividend date December 30, 2019). This distribution is comprised of $0.07019 per share of net investment income and $0.18884 net realized long-term capital gains.

Aberdeen Japan Equity Fund, Inc. (NYSE: JEQ) today announced that its Board of Directors (the "Board") has approved changes to the Fund's fundamental investment restriction related to borrowing, which is subject to stockholder approval. If approved by stockholders, it is currently expected that the changes to the Fund's fundamental investment restriction related to borrowing will be implemented in the second quarter of 2020.
