The Jacksonville-based manufacturer of lumber, paper, packaging and cellulose-based products is powering its Fernandina Beach Plant by incinerating cash. It takes in shredded bills from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, mixes it with biofuel and throws the mixture into a boiler, which generates steam to power the plant. The retired currency replaces some of the biomass fuel the cellulose fiber manufacturing plant already used.

Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE:RYAM) today announced that the Company’s Board of Directors will nominate and appoint two new independent directors to the Board. The Board will nominate David C. Mariano as a Class III Director, along with Paul Boynton and De Lyle W. Bloomquist, at the upcoming 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders (the "Annual Meeting"). The Board will also appoint Ivona Smith as a Class II Director at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting. In addition, longtime directors C. David Brown and Mark Gaumond have announced that they are planning to retire from the Board, effective as of the Annual Meeting.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Rayonier Advanced Materials (NYSE: RYAM) through its two independent charitable foundations in the U.S. and Canada contributed over $160,000 to 23 local nonprofits that are addressing community needs in rural Florida, Georgia, Ontario and Quebec.

The Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (NYSE:RYAM) (the "Company") Board of Directors has elected De Lyle Bloomquist to serve as Chair of the Board. The Company previously announced the separation of the roles of Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Bloomquist, currently an independent Director who will stand for re-election to the Board at the 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, will assume the role of Non-Executive Chair following the conclusion of the Company’s Board meeting on May 19, assuming his re-election on May 18. In connection with these changes, the Board will discontinue the role of independent Lead Director. Paul Boynton, who currently serves as Chair, will continue in his role as President and CEO, and as a Director of the Company.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on certain business markets, Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE:RYAM) announced curtailed production at seven Canadian locations. Starting this week, the Company will cease or reduce operations at all softwood sawmills located in Ontario and Quebec as well as halt production at the Company’s newsprint plant in Kapuskasing, Ontario. These curtailments will last at least two weeks and may be extended longer depending on market conditions. Existing sales orders will continue to be fulfilled from current inventory and reduced production at the Kapuskasing sawmill.
