The manufacturer of large wind blades used in energy production said it is working with the state of Iowa to ramp up employee testing after a coronavirus outbreak at its facility there.

TPI’s decision to temporarily reduce or suspend production at these manufacturing facilities is due primarily to certain applicable government-mandated stay at home orders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in demands from its unions in Matamoros and Turkey to either stop or reduce production.

TPI Composites, Inc. Following an increase in COVID-19 cases in Jasper, Marshall, and Polk counties, as well as a significant number of positive cases in our plant in Newton, Iowa, and in collaboration with the State of Iowa, TPI proactively conducted mandatory COVID-19 testing for nearly all of its associates at its Newton facility on April 25, 2020.
