With nearly 80% of its fourth quarter 2019 sales in the aerospace and oil and gas industries, Bridgeville-based Universal Stainless & Alloy Products Inc. (NYSE: USAP) braced for a 2020 defined by the hard hit those industries face from the impacts of Covid-19. Universal Stainless reported its first quarter 2020 results Wednesday, noting $58.5 million in total sales, a 6% increase from the $55.4 million in sales in the fourth quarter of 2019, but a 2.9 % decrease from the $60.3 million in the first quarter the year prior. Universal Stainless President and CEO Dennis Oates said during the company’s earnings call that those sales were driven substantially, as were other parts of the company’s portfolio, by the aerospace market.
